Bill and Ted Face the Music (2020)

Bill and Ted are back and the future of the world hangs in the balance. Time and reality are unstable, people from the past and being beamed to the present. If Bill and Ted don’t write the song to save the world, there might not be one left. For the last 25 years Bill and Ted have tried the write the song to unite the world and failed miserably. But their daughters Billie and Thea haven’t give up on them.

JJ does his best to defend this movie. Javier questions Kid Cudi’s quantum mechanics knowledge. Ian is pulled into the nostalgia. Mattson questions JJ’s sense of humor.

A Most Excellent podcast episode!! I loved watching this movie! What I liked was the fact that they didn’t try to change too much. It was literally Bill and Ted just 40 years in the future, telling an almost continuous story. I was skeptical because of other nostalgia heavy movies that rewrite the original story with new characters or change the source material so much that the only similarity is the name. This was an 80’s movie That was made in 2020. I wasn’t bothered with convenient plot points so much because the 80’s was less concerned with that. Time travel works in whichever way is best to tell a story. It seems out of place now with movies like endgame really focusing on getting theoretical time travel right to not upset the millions of self appointed Twitter time travel experts. The simplicity of this movie really made it enjoyable. Why does the phone booth travel in time? Because Bill and Ted need it to. Why do timelines not matter? Because Bill and Ted are Bill and Ted and having perfect timelines doesn’t matter when you have to write THE SONG to save the world and only have a few minutes to do it in. I will definitely watch this movie again. Keep it up guys! Can’t wait for next week, especially Mulan!

Great synopsis Alec and nice to have someone agree with me on this one lol. We’re really going to have to have you guest host with us on an episode!

That would be awesome to guest host! But a lot of my cinematic roots come from movies with Javier so you really have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. Better to leave it to the cinematic wizards at what’s our verdict
