Enola Holmes (2020)

Enola Holmes has spent her first sixteen years with her mother Eudoria. Her days have been full of fun and learning, from reading every book in their library to sports and martial arts. With her two brothers absent (Sherlock and Mycroft), Eudoria isn’t just Enola’s mother, but her best friend. When Enola wakes up on her sixteenth birthday she finds her mother missing without a trace apart from a small birthday present. Enola goes on an adventurous search in 1900 England to find her mother that ends up being more important than she realizes.

Ian questions the villains motivations. JJ goes on a tangent. Javier can’t help but make the comparison to Sherlock Holmes. Guest host Sam tries to intimidate for the right ratings.

Oh man, great episode guys! I’m with Ian on this one though. I know I’m supposed to really like this movie but I just couldn’t. I loved the acting and Sam Claflin as Mycroft was pure gold. I just couldn’t get over the fact that a “strong female lead” in today’s world is the younger sister of a strong male character. There is Javier’s lazy writing right there. To be honest, Millie Bobby Brown has more star power than I think anybody realizes and if you kept this movie the exact same but took out Henry Cavill as Sherlock and changed Enola’s last name you actually elevate her as a strong character because you are making your story all about Enola. Not comparing Enola to her older brother, just about Enola because it is her world and her story. Of course this all should be taken with a grain of salt because it’s based off a book series but I think that this movie would’ve done a lot more for me had Enola been just on her own without needing Sherlock there for context. Loved the episode though guys!! Keep up the great content!
