The Prestige (2006) vs. The Illusionist (2006)

In this arbitration episode the magician blockbusters of 2006 go head to head: The Illusionist and The Prestige. The Illusionist follows a young magician, Eisenheim, as he and his young love Sophie are torn apart by social status differences. Eisenheim returns years later to find the heir to the Austrian throne involving Sophie in a devious plot to become emperor. The Prestige tells of revenge, rivalry, and sacrifice as two magicians, Angiers and Borden, as they challenge one another to be the better magician. Driving the feud is Borden’s role in the tragic death of Angier’s wife.

Yo! One of Javier’s nerds checking in. Great review! Really enjoying the podcast. The prestige is one of my all time favorite movies. The use of Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale reading each other’s diaries was awesome. Especially the voiceover bit where Hugh Jackman’s character talks about Christian Bale reading his journal while awaiting his trial for murder. Talk about chills! Keep up the great content!
